A Coffee Farm is located in the remote and peaceful Moa'ula neighborhood, a community of Ka'u coffee producers, that lies on the eastern slopes of Mauna Loa, one of the largest active volcanoes on earth. It is a part of the Ka'u region of the Big Island, with the multiple farm lots situated between 1,300 and 1,750 feet elevation. Deep soil, cloudy afternoons, and 60 inches of rain per year yield a sweet, aromatic, balanced coffee.

A 90-acre coffee sanctuary is the collective vision of James McCully and Ruslan & Alla Kuznetsov. Nestled on the slopes of Mauna Loa, the farm boasts a variety of coffee plants, including Red Catuai, Lempira, Parainema, Tabi, Castillo, and other varieties processed through washed, natural, honey, and yeast-inoculated methods.

James, a Big Island farming veteran since 1976, transitioned from vegetables to orchids before his passion for Kau coffee’s unique qualities took root. Rus and Alla, with origins in the USSR and backgrounds in music and wine, found their calling in coffee after a nationwide journey, culminating in a partnership with James to cultivate this exceptional coffee.

Despite the challenges of disease and pest management, the joy of producing a world-class product in a stunning, high-elevation tropical setting is unparalleled.

While the farm’s trees are still in their youth, and some are only yielding a handful of coffee cherries, we are excited to offer you very limited batches of what we are able to harvest. Your support during this period of development is so important and greatly appreciated and we hope this is just the beginning of our long-lasting relationship. You, our first customers, will forever be special to us!

Please bear with us as we develop our brand and website 🙏🏼
